Professional Profiles

Professional Profile: Lucas Ferrara 2005

  • Title: Partner
  • Company: Finkelstein Newman, LLP
  • Location: 225 Broadway, 8th Floor, New York, N.Y.
  • Birthplace: New York, N.Y., 1959

Family: Single
College: Columbia University
First job outside of real estate: None, unless you count mowing lawns, when I was a lot younger. For the last 20 years of my professional life I have always been involved in real estate (personally and professionally). In addition to investing in properties throughout the state, I have represented a variety of well-known commercial and residential landlords and tenants.
First job in real estate or allied field: Attorney
What do you do now and what are you planning for the future? Real estate litigation and transactions
Hobbies: Writing and lecturing. I write for a variety of publications and lecture at a local law school (Adjunct Professor of Law), speak to community groups and a number of professional associations.
Favorite movie: “It’s a Wonderful Life”
Persons you most admire (outside of family): Politicians. Don’t understand how (or why) they tolerate the constant criticism, scrutiny and ingratitude.
Keys to success: Persistence, persistence, persistence (and, of course, avoiding repetition and redundancy at all costs).
If you had to choose another vocation, what would it be? Chef (“Move over, Jacques Pepin!”)
