What do you do now and what are you planning for the future? Founded over 30 years

ago, FXFOWLE Architects is an architectural, interior design, planning and urban design

firm committed to design excellence, social responsibility and sustainability with offices in

New York, Washington, D.C, and Dubai. I am currently working on educational and

cultural projects, including a new public school in Queens (with amazing views across the

East River to midtown Manhattan) and projects at Cornell and SUNY.

Hobbies: Travel, reading, cooking

Favorite books: Usually the one I’m reading. I just finished “Will in the World” by

Stephan Greenblatt and found it wonderful. “Great Expectations” changed my life when I

was 13.

Favorite movies: “Double Indemnity,” “Lawrence of Arabia,” “Mon Oncle”

Persons you admire most (outside of family): Anyone who unselfishly cares for others;

those who can compose brilliant music.

Keys to success: Thinking laterally combined with rigorous and hard work – it’s where

lasting solutions are found; avoiding labels
