Professional Profile: Roland Dib 2013

  • Title: CEO
  • Company: DIB Management, a Real Estate Development Company
  • Location: My office is in Brooklyn, my projects are in New York City and Brooklyn.
  • Birthplace: Lebanon

Education: Engineering Degree and an MBA; Columbia University.
First job outside of real estate: I worked throughout my childhood, I did it all. Waited tables, pumped gas, and early on I worked as a carpenter with my uncle.
First job in real estate or allied field: I spent many years in the Environmental Industry with a company I launched in the early 1990s.
What do you do now and what are you planning for the future? I spend most of my time developing real estate in New York City and Brooklyn. I am hoping to break ground soon on a project in Miami and St Barth.
How do you unwind from a busy day in real estate? Single malt Scotch and good conversation with friends.
Favorite book or author: I read more than one book at a time. Now I am reading “Negotiating with Giants” by Peter D. Johnston, “The Immoralist” by Andre Gide, and “Bali from the Lonely Planet,” because this is where I am going this summer with my family.
Favorite movie: My two daughters will quickly tell you “A Good Year” directed by Ridley Scott and “Fool’s Gold” by Andy Tennant. On average I watch these two movies six times a year.
Last song you downloaded? Probably, a Spanish song by Mana……I think, “Rayando El Sol”
One word to describe your work environment: Always stressful but equally challenging and rewarding.
Rules to live by in business: I try to never forget the human aspects of everything I do. To keep it all in perspective, I founded Giving For Living International 15 years ago. We do good satisfying work in many parts of the world.
If you could invite one person to dinner (living or dead) who would it be and where would you go? In college I loved Math and Physics, I probably would invite Albert Einstein, and we will dine by the sea, if Albert is busy,
definitely Warren Buffet, to find out his next stock picks. Will meet him at Mark Joseph for great steak.
What is your dream job? When I was a kid, I wanted to be a pilot. I was after the traveling and the uniform.
